While I’m Away

I’m taking a little trip until Friday, but while I’m away……

Go learn some new things about me on my first post for College Lifetyles!

Hasta Luego.

I hate goodbyes. I always have. But then again, who actually likes them?

Since my arrival in Spain, I’ve noticed that the Spaniards rarely use the term “Adios” in favor of “Hasta Luego” (which translates to “See you later”). I actually really love that the Spaniards do this. So, in order to ease the pain of saying “goodbye”, I’ve decided to adopt this Spanish practice and refer to this period of my life as an “Hasta Luego”. Continue reading

On my first trip to Barcelona, Polly and I were sitting in a taxi when I heard a commercial saying that Enrique Iglesias was going to be in Madrid on March 4th for his Euphoria tour. I grabbed her arm and squealed as the taxi driver totally judged me and my violent reaction to such silly news. Apparently los españoles aren’t loco por Enrique, but I couldn’t help myself…my inner 90’s child got the best of me. Continue reading

Back to Barcelona.

Last weekend, I returned to Barcelona for reasons that will be explained later. For now, here’s a timeline of the first two days.

Day 1 (Thursday):
10:05 p.m. Flight to Barcelona departs from Salamanca airport
Shout out to Iberia Airlines for your timely take off, free refreshments, ample leg room, friendly stewardesses and minimal carry-on restrictions…you really are a huge step up from Ryan Air and Easy Jet, and I appreciate you.
11:00 p.m. Arrive in Barcelona. Find a taxi. We can’t be bothered with the bus system. It’s late and we aren’t in the mood to get lost.
11:15 p.m. Ask taxi driver to take us to our hotel. He pulls out a weird piece of paper with streets all over it. Hey, the 90’s called. They want their map back. Where’s the GPS?! Continue reading

Semana Santa: Fuerteventura

Since it was Semana Santa, we got the last ten days off of school which meant major traveling for most people.

For this girl, it meant a whole lotta ocean, sun, sand, and relaxing. After making the crucial mistake of checking my bank statements, I decided that I couldn’t exactly afford an extravagent multi-country trip. Polly and I decided to save some money and stay at an all inclusive resort, H10 Tindaya, on the island of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. Continue reading

Home for the Weekend.

I love, love, love to travel, but I’m always relieved and excited when I get to stay home for the weekend. Yes, that’s what I’m calling Salamanca these days.

The only thing that I love more than Salamanca is Salamanca when it’s 70 degrees outside. The warm weather usually means that everyone heads to the río (river) for the afternoon, and Thursday was one of those days. Continue reading

Milan, part 2.

Well, the black out blinds worked because I didn’t wake up until 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
(Okay, technically that’s not true. I woke up at 9:00 a.m. because I felt my phone vibrating near my feet. I picked it up to find 5 unread text messages from my friend at LSU, Anthony, begging me to call him. I finally gave in and talked to him for a while. Then I fell back asleep and didn’t wake up until 1.)

When Polly and I were both awake we decided to head back to the park by the castle and spend the afternoon soaking up the sun. Continue reading
